Our heroes begin their journey into the Brazen Peaks. Having first stopped off at the Centaurs Camp, the heroes make their way to the north west, heading directly for Pale Mountain, the alleged home of the Carrion King.
Their journey took them to a Gnoll Tribal meeting place, where after making their way across the river, were set upon during the night by a flock of three Gargoyles, seemingly wanting to capture them. As the fight progressed, the gargoyles clearly found the heroes to be more than they bargained and fled. Luckily, with ranged weapons and the now flying Pir’anya, the heroes were able to eliminate the threat, and thereby preventing them from escaping to warn their masters.
The heroes journey contained through the mountains as they followed the Gnoll trail from the meeting places. Eventually they arrived at the infamous White Canyon, an area well known for being controlled by Gnolls. Deciding it would be best to move around the Gnolls, rather than have them warned of their arrival, the heroes make way into the dense mountain region.
Whilst moving through a particular dangerous area, one of the party is spotted by a pair of Gnoll Rangers. Their position compromised, Kay’enn, Vash, Zumum and Pir’anya deal with the only Gnoll, clear their tracks and make and quickly dash further into the mountains. Their plan was clearly a success, as they were not followed.
Their next encounter occurred near a river flowing directly from Pale Mountain itself. Again, a somewhat clumsy Khalid was spotted by a group of Gnolls, carrying what appeared to be a sacrifice of some kind. The creatures were on the other side of the river, and so the heroes decided it was best to hide than to risk further discovery. The Gnoll band moved on, and disappeared into the lower reaches of Pale Mountain.
The heroes continued their journey and made their way towards the main Gnoll trailing leading to Pale Mountain. Kay’enn scouted ahead and found a strange hooded creature hiding in a small naturally formed clearing amongst a group of fallen boulders. Kay’enn returned to the party and the heroes formualted a plan to capture the creature.
It was not long before the heroes had the creature, which appeared to be a stunted, weedy, “runt” of a Gnoll, who for intents and purposes was made. The creature, identifying itself as Purkor, claimed that it had stolen half of an artifact from a human named The Witch. She was working for the Carrion King and was tasked with finding an item of great power. The item to which he spoke was half an amulet which when put on, gave Nini visions of a cave with lava, great heat and some type of creatures of fire. Nini was unsure what she had seen, and after an argument, the device was returned to the Gnoll. After some questioning, and a deal being struck, Purkor agreed to assist the heroes into the mountain fortress…
